About the speaker
Dr. Áine Ní Shé is currently Registrar & Vice President for Academic Affairs (Acting) at Cork Institute of Technology. Previously, in June 2012, she was appointed Head of the Department of Mathematics. In this role, she managed all activity in relation to Mathematics teaching, research and engagement across CIT. Through outreach work in STEM, Áine continued to develop her links with the primary and post-primary education sectors. She is currently a member of the Irish Committee for the Athena SWAN Charter, which encourages and recognises the advancement of gender equity in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM). A former member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Áine continues to be involved in music during her spare time. She plays violin in various orchestras and chamber ensembles in Cork, and sings with the vocal ensemble Madrigal 75.
